In RE at Co-op Academy Florence MacWilliams, pupils develop a range of skills to help them develop empathy. The curriculum is centred on the PACE principles and the promotion of these features prominently in all lessons. Central to the delivery of RE is a sense of Pride in the local community of Stoke and our shared values/ beliefs, the curriculum itself is high challenge and Ambitious looking at wider religions around the globe, we aim to foster a Caring  and tolerant attitude towards students in the classroom and Stoke’s diverse population, above all we strive to encourage Excellence in all we do and academic rigour is a key priority here at Florence MacWilliams. Central to our philosophy is to understand and tolerate different religions- in particular Judaism and Islam due to the rise in anti-semtic and anti-Islamic attitudes and behaviours in society. Learners will develop extended writing skills using ideas from the Writing Revolution in Year 7 and gradually building on this to construct more complex arguments and counter arguments in a balanced, intelligent and reasoned way.

The right to withdraw from religious education and/or collective worship: Parents have the right to withdraw their children from religious education. In the UK, parents still have the right to withdraw their children from RE on the grounds that they wish to provide their own RE. This provision will be the parents’ responsibility. Parents also have the right to withdraw their child from part of RE. If you wish to do this, then please contact the academy and a member of the senior leader team will arrange to meet with you.
