Florence is a new secondary academy in Stoke-on-Trent. We opened our doors to our Year 7 founding cohort in September 2024!
It will provide a new opportunity for young people from Stoke-on-Trent to attain the highest standards, accessing state of the art facilities that will support a broad and balanced education.

It is a great privilege to be able to create a legacy for future generations that is built in, by, and for Stoke. Leading the Co-op Academy Florence MacWilliams project from inception and seeing it through to fruition is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Florence opened its doors in September 2024 in temporary accommodation, welcoming our founding cohort of 120 Year 7 students. Through collaboration with the Local Authority and the DfE's Free School program, Florence has established itself as an important addition to Stoke-on-Trent's educational landscape. From September 2025, staff and students will transition into our state-of-art facility, expanding each year until reaching full capacity of 1150 students in 2030.
Milestone moment reached in the build of our new academy
10th October 2024Construction of our brand new academy is progressing rapidly and this week we reached a major milestone as the steel frame was installed. Forming the backbone of our academy, the steel frame has changed the site landscape as our new building starts to become a reality!
